A lesson in the stupidity of the UK Immigration Policies

I would like to scream at this particular bunch of despots.  I would like to throw something at them and tell them there is a special place in hell for them.  I would like nothing more than to tell them to go and screw themselves.  This would resolve none of the issues I am dealing with or aware of but it would be exceptionally cathartic.

Story number 1)

My fiancee and I have been together for 5 years.  Earlier this year we were ready to apply for her civil partnership visa.  They upped the stakes and put a limit on my minimum earnings of 18,600 GBP a year.  I earn 17,500 GBP a year.  This has lead to me frantically trying to work out what to do, asking for a raise  which could potentially happen in 6 months but would mean another year of waiting, searching for part time jobs to do on top of my job and other means of employment.  The pressure it’s put on us has been less than enjoyable to say the least.

I would like to point out, I know couples who do not rely on the government for financial form in any form who earn less than that between them and yet because they aren’t subject to immigration laws don’t have to deal with this crap. My stress levels are through the roof and the tears are overwhelming, anyone with any suggestions please… tell me now.

Story 2)

Friends of mine who are an American married couple and have been over here for a number of years whilst he got his PhD and are now working 2 jobs a piece have until March for him to get a job related to his doctorate or they are out of the country.  Never mind the fact they pay taxes here, they are settled here, they have a life here and work harder than the entire Welfare state do to ensure that they can survive.  They have been actively contributing to the UK for years and yet this is how they are treated.

I would really like to slam my fist into a wall or some heads right now.
